Not sure why they are stressing. Just make the process completely public, allow journalists and the public full access to the tender process. Then immediately arrest wrong doers at source before any moneys are paid.
That actually means they won't be able to steal the money.. Can't have that.

That's also a good way of enabling a chaotic environment where the media and the public goes around spreading misinformation and fake news and sensationalist half truths.

I agree with having access to the process but I feel a more structured way of doing things would be more beneficial, like the AG and other authorities and stakeholders giving regular media briefings.

I just have a feeling that as much as there are people who just want to make sure that the funds are not stolen, there will be others whose only interest is to cause havoc and render the whole thing ungovernable even when it's just for the sake of their friends who missed out on the tenders or just for the sake of politics.

Axtually, making the process secretive is a good way for ensuring that misinformation and fake news spreads. You can't spread misinformation when the process is open and anyone has access to the info. It is the best way for dealing with tender corruption, the ANC do use tenders to fund their patronage so they prefer a secretive system. Of course you may have to keep some info confidential for reasons of IP and such but once everyone has submitted the pricing and essentials should be public.

The lengths needed to keep the vultures away.

Cape Town - Auditor-General Tsakani Maluleke has deployed a team of experts that will oversee the use of funds in KwaZulu-Natal and conduct real-time audits to prevent corruption in the allocation of the funds.

Cant make this stuff up.

A senior ANC MP, who the Zondo Commission recommends should be investigated for corruption, has been appointed as the co-chairperson of the ad hoc committee to ensure that disaster funding for KwaZulu-Natal isn't looted.

Aside from the disaster fund it is very unsettling to see how open, blatant and arrogant the demands for bribes relating to municipal contracts has become from councillors supposedly representing their communities.

They will probably say he has not been charged with anything but that was still a bad move, it creates a bad perception.

Yeah, it does. But then again the public's perception of the ANC isn't that good anyway, so...

Politicians are into politics to create good perceptions so that they can get votes, with the ANC in power it means they have done well to manage perceptions around their brand to get voted into power, being in power means the voting public does have good perceptions about them.

We all know that the perception is reality though.. The relief funds and all rebuilding funds will be looted bevok and screw all the people who actually need the stuff fixed properly.

Yes, but that's not what I was talking about, I wasn't arguing the merits of the perceptions, whether they are right or wrong.

There are a couple of perceptions, the first one being what you said, people expect that there are people on the ground waiting for the funds so that they loot them, there is a perception that there is a part of the ANC that is fighting very hard to keep the status quo and resist any form of curtailing the rampant corruption by making sure that people like Zandile Gumede are elected back into positions of power.

There are also other perceptions that people have about the ANC, the perception that there is a part of the ANC that is resisting corruption and state capture, that there are those who are fighting for the renewal of the ANC, having someone like Frolick appointed to that committee negatively influences the perceptions of those who have a positive view about what Ramaphosa and his group are trying to do, regardless of the fact that he has not been charged with corruption.

It honestly depends on what region in what province you go to? For example, the ANC sadly has an ok perception here in northeastern WC (Oudtshoorn, Prince Albert, Beaufort West, Kannaland, Laingsburg) but elsewhere in WC not so much...

Yeah. As usual.

We can only hope that more people see the light regarding the ANC.

Obviously, the less favourable the perceptions are, the less votes they get.

Shows you how their fuku attitude towards the Zondo Commission is more important than public perception and trust. They are not fit to govern SA because their heads are too far up their own arses with personal agendas to even notice basic principles of Life let alone politics such as public trust and perception.
