Although I think it's incredibly stupid to fight a police officer, one has to think with three officers vs one unarmed guy, is it really necessary to fire 3 or 4 shots? What happened to using your knight stick/baton or a gunshot to the leg. Or just one shot? Not like the cops lives were in grave danger. Its like getting in a bar fight and instead of your 2 buddies helping to moer the guy or get him off you one if them just rips out a gun and fore 3 shots at the guy. Police should be more professional or better trained to not be as trigger happy. Its their job.

Did you watch the videos? With the tasering and the single shot first? When can I come fracture your face (first officer) and afterwards you can tell us if you didn't feel your are in grave danger or not?

3 shots? More like the barrel would have glowed red and the mag would have been emptied if that tall Zulu was storming down on me. I still have the 2 pieces of the 16 pound hammer head a 7ft Zulu split in half...

To be honest the videos dont show much to make a case on either side other than giving an overall timeframe, a scuffle taking place and a cop falling over, and ending with gun shots. All I am saying is it was three armed cops against one unarmed guy. Even if there was fighting you dont expect 3 or 4 gunshots within 30 seconds from when the cops got there. No "stop or I'll shoot", no attemp from the others to physically subdue him other than a taser attempt from pretty far off that probably missed.

Police are supposed to be properly trained to deal with uncooperative and aggressive suspects in ways other than using guns. I mean they are very likely to encounter this during their duties. Resorting to firing your weapon 3 times within 30 seconds from arriving at the scene with 2 other cops present is just not good enough.

There is obviously more to this but I am just commenting on what I saw in the video. If he was armed its a different story.

Guy should never have assaulted the police, but the idea that he was trying to rob these people doesn't sound right or make a lot of sense...

It's possible they had some kind a disagreement and the lady involved decided to involve the police... Would be interested to hear the full statement from the lady in the video.

Should police wait for their lives to be in grave danger? Should they wait for the Zulu prince to maybe grab one of their guns? Should they wait for the Zulu prince to maybe pull out a hidden gun or knife in the dark? Or should 3rd cop just watch as the Zulu prince messes up the other officer's faces even further and break more bones in their faces or necks etc?

Fact is he refused to get down and he was ready to fight on a stranger's property. If he was in SA chances are good that the home owner would have killed this intruder. There was 1 shot and he was tasered several times but kept on attacking, sending at least 1 cop to hospital with pretty serious facial injuries. They were right to shoot him imo and they were not "trigger happy" in this case.

OOOh is so easy to ride one the unarmed man train. The cops arrive in the dark and within seconds he attacks them. Do you really believe they could have known if he is armed or not? Have a gun, knife in his pants? You can not determine if someone has a gun or knife from 5m away in daylight if you have 5min. That's why people get searched/frisked.
Yet you think they should know he is unarmed in the dark, from 5m away in less than 5s.

A little more detailed article if anyone's interested

At this point, Myeni got out of his car and started to walk toward the second officer who had arrived on the scene, police said.

Ballard said the officers told Myeni to stop and get on the ground.

Instead, Myeni 'turned and charged' at one of the cops, punching him several times, she said.

The second officer tried to get Myeni off the first officer while the third officer arrived on the scene, instantly deploying his taser at the suspect, she said.

Ballard said the taser was ineffective in subduing Myeni, who then charged at the third officer and punched him.

Myeni then allegedly ran back at the first officer who fired a single gunshot at him.

Ballard said the shot did not stop the Myeni, who tackled the officer to the ground, straddling him and punching him repeatedly.

At this point, the second cop fired three rounds at Myeni, who fell to the ground, police said.

'This all happened in less than one minute from officer one's arrival,' Ballard said.

Myeni was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition where he later died from his injuries.

The three officers were also taken to hospital for treatment for multiple injuries.

The first officer on the scene suffered multiple facial fractures, concussion and injuries to his arms and legs and was still in hospital Thursday.

The second cop had multiple injuries to his body, arms and legs while the third had a concussion and abrasions.

So Myeni married a colonialist, went to live in a colony, having had a career in a colonialist sport. Insulted the EFF commander in chief via Twitter. What is the EFF angle in this? Are they supporting the officers of colour who shot him, or are they supporting Myeni? Bit of a racial conundrum for the EFF.

The cop literally has his gun out and then doesn’t use it, so yeah that’s trigger happy behaviour. Play stupid games you win stupid prizes.

I really don’t believe those cops have years of experience behind them, that was a **** show.

Still makes no sense, the police stories keep contradicting themselves, that woman said he was stealing the car so it’s not rocket science to release the full tapes and 911 call.

Why is it so dark in this place, do they have shortage of power?
Perhaps a shortage of crime necessitating lighting. Although they did say crime was on the increase. They may have to start looking into better lighting but then the it was likely exaggerated by the camera.

No I don't think she said that. I believe she was a person of colour saying that he was "steel in his car" meaning "still his car" if I understood correctly.
Yeah I also thought that but like I said the reports from the police keep changing and don’t exactly match the available dashcam image.
