Surely someone would have first needed to get him to get evaluated. Since we do not have government agents, anywhere in the world, who spend time with us each and every day and monitor our behaviour, I would almost think it would be the responsibility of those friends and family spending time with him each day to ensure he gets the help he needs.
Obviously

But what if this was the first time he went over the edge?

Obviously

But what if this was the first time he went over the edge?

How many people is busy with average day life and suddenly, in a second, for no reason, just cross the edge and break down? I can't answer this question, but I am convinced that most Psychologists would agree that a long or short timeline of events and warning signs would rather precede such breakdown.

Even if not, such person is a danger to society if this is happening out of the blue.

I see the previous posts have been deleted.

The main point I am presenting is that the guy, ideally should have been treated psychologically.

I have already made my stance clear on the fact that he was responsible for his own death, the cops did not really have a choice.

How is me suggesting rehab as a possibility, interpreted as a strawman by you?
If you understood what a strawman argument was, you would not ask this question.

Is it impossible to help someone with a mental disorder?

There is your strawman...

I think we should let the experts make that claim..

Your MO, make statement, if question is asked, respond with Strawman/Whataboutism etc.
So explain what you want from me then??

Do you want me to explain what a Strawman is?
Do you want me to explain why YOUR counter "argument" was a Strawman?

Respectfully, I think it's best to just leave it, I will back off

First you say this:

No, he should have been detained and provided psychiatric help.
When it is discussed and shown to be a generalization, you backtrack furiously and start rephrasing with "in an ideal situation...bla bla bla.

Then you respond to me with this beauty:

Is it impossible to help someone with a mental disorder?
OBVIOUSLY is it not impossible to help someone with a mental disorder. That is what psychologists, psychiatrists and mental hospitals are for.

Is that question applicable to THIS scenario? NO it is not...thus it is a Strawman. WHY is it one?

Becuase in that moment where the "crazy guy is attacking police and assaulting them, it is impossible to HELP him.

Do you get it now??
