Holy sheet, what a disaster.

Natal is becoming the new Japan when it comes to natural (and unnatural) disasters.

rainfals and floods usually can be expected in cycles of 10 years and 100 years. Our government ignores this and infrastructure are not maintained. It used to be considered in Civil and Architectural.

Yeah I remember that, and as you said, same areas. But too late for them to do anything about it and no money anymore as it will be a massive project. It just gets worst as now the infrastructure is already further damaged, so next time will seem "worse". The way I see it anyways.

It is hectic and I am scared to go to my sites; it will be chaos. I am ok (well for now, until I have to answer questions about drainage etc) but feel for those who have lost homes, possessions and even loved ones. I am angry at those who ignore, delay and cheat maintenance and service upgrade reports, designs and contracts as the problems are recurring in many areas. You have blood on your hands.

Yeah. My parents live on the south coast. Had roughly 400mm of rain over the last 2 days.

Their whole house is retained by an 800mm thick wall of solid concrete, reinforced with steel, with drainage holes all over the show. That architect considered this type of thing.

Edit: that wall and the earthworks was like 25% of the entire house cost when they got it built. We'll know soon enough if it worked.

They have had blood on their hands for a while now. I suspect some chaos regarding the poor maintenance to come to light after today is done. Not that it will change anything, its practically a little late and there is zero money to actually rebuild it right now that a ton of the systems were destroyed.

So are we blaming climate change or what?

That aside, anyone asked the zulu king for financial aid and a place to crash at his palace? Considering how much he gets financed by the country.
