hi

i stay at mount grace complex in La Montagne
openserve says fibre is ready to go and i placed my order with current ISP afrihost so it should take about 3weeks according to them.

my question is:
how did openserve survey our complex? to what end does the fibre cabling go to? i have noticed white boxes at our gates
does this mean fibre is installed until their and to get it to your home extra costs would be involved to get it to your home?
for extra cables to be laid?

just trying to get my head around this story

thanx in advance

Can't really comment on anything other than advising you to seriously re-consider using Afrihost...
A simple search here will prove my point.

I can tell you that patience is key in terms of getting fibre up and running in your home.

i have been using afrihost for about a year now... never had any issues with them really... the 10mbs i have now is really really sad as im getting 8mbs 8.5mbs if im lucky, this all started after the minor thunder we had this past sunday before that i was getting 9-9.8mbs... and my router stopped working... WAN is dead... afrihost offers free installation for fibre thats mainly the reason i stuck with them... we will see how it goes i suppose... im just concern about cabling to my house as im roughly 20 - 30m away from the fibre box..

There's no issue in terms of the length of the connection to your home. Fibre can be run for hundred's of KM's.

But seriously, find out if there are other ISP's... a friend who got suckered into going with Afrihost (free install/modem yada yada) has been told by them that he needs to turn off the wifi on all his devices as this is the reason why his internet is not working...
