This is not good news, in any way.

Its terrible, horrible news. Because it now confirms that even a company not able to perform its duty, performing a critical national service, and deeply in debt - will still bend to the Unions demands.

Expect more riots and sabotage in a few months or sooner when they want another increase or demand.

Congratulations, the 5yr-old just threw major tantrum and destroyed everything you and handed him exactly what he asked for. Guess what he'll do next...

Must be nice to strike when you don't get what you want & then still get away with it.

If I had to do it I'll be fired on the spot.

Then I think it only fair that the Eskom paying consumer also receives a R15k sweetner for all the annoyance and problems these half witted useless twats cause...

R15K minus tax, because as you know the government wants its share.

Ha ha nice.

You guys shouting "treason" and "criminals". This is not the old SA.

Unions should have gone for the neck and go for 10%.

borderline treason should not be rewarded with a 7% increase

7% of the cnuts should be left alive to witness the other 93% executed for treason, trust me, they will not try it again

Also Eskom being told to stop load reduction in townships despite illegal connections. Makes it difficult to stop the losses.
How do you possibly run an entity with these shareholders?

The best thing is that cities, municipalities and people will start to move off Eskom. These are paying clients. The less paying clients, the more electricity will be hiked for those that still has to pay.

This is why soo many years ago when we had our first batch of loadshedding, we saw Eskom workers go from house to house with those fluorescant globes and geyser duvets, and they even installed it.

Where are they this time? Why no geyser duvets or LED bulbs?

Simply put. Eskom used to generate 2x more electricity then, than today. These days most houses has switched to LED, for those that hasnt, well bit tough. But then an avg lightbulb would use 60-100w, today it uses maybe 5-9w. What this has done has reduced the electricity needs of those that actually pay for electricity. People got smarter and found more green appliances than before. This has changed the way we use electricity.

For Eskom this is a big problem. They are loosing the people who pays for stuff, and are stuck more with people who dont pay with stuff. When you are corrupt and have lots of debts, this is a big issue.

Thats why no LED bulbs and geyser duvets this time around. They cant afford to loose more clients.

If you go solar, later they will implement Nersas recommendation and x10 the electricity and connection levy price for solar houses. In a socialist system the haves pay in any which way, and buying a solar system in SA merely advertises the fact that you are a have and is ready to be milked, and you will be milked.

They can’t organize a piss up in a brewery, I would like to see them charge different people different rates. That will be a great day.

They already do charge different rates, and they attach it to the household rates and taxes bill. They are also already charging people different rates based on whether your house is classified as indigent or not. The DA is leading the way with these socialist tricks and the ANC is learning from them how to implement. In DA land you have to register your solar system for R6k, then your house is placed on the special higher solar house tariff.

Nah we don’t strike, we getting a 2% increase though hopefully if we’re lucky.
Are you not already overpaid? MyBb said so, you people in government are rolling in cash, let alone all the tenders you get for merely being ANC voters.

I don’t see people registering though.
