Could be one reason but far more commonly women are realizing that they don't need a man in their life to support them. They can support themselves in this day and age very comfortably. The net result is that the smart girls are getting far more picky and are holding out for mr perfect who never comes along or if he does is not interrested in them. In the past when women where largely unable to get good employment opportunities women where far more likely to settle for less than their ideal.

I have known a few very intelligent girls (PhD's etc) who remained single for very long periods not because guys where not interrested and asking them out constantly but because they looked down their nose at each of the potential suitors. So yes, two sides to every coin.

I have wondered about this. Are women more picky than men about dating?

Of course, when they get older, usually they stop being so picky, but by then they have trouble competing with the much younger women.

Listen. I'm going to say it once.
Women like their men a bit slow. That is how they get everything they want. The one with the cookie controls everything.

The single/unmarried girls don't like stupid men or like playing dumb and men do not like girls that don't play dumb and weak.

Its a balance. If you don't have the balls for a strong women get one that will play stupid. Or maybe just settle for a little special one.

Just wanted to add, my post is not applicable to all women. I know plenty of smart girls who are happy to date any decent guy. Every person is different and has different tastes. Heck one of the smartest girls I know married a dumb a-typical jock with very low employment prospects probably because he is similar to her sporty daddy. Lots of factors at play here. Still, I have seen a general trend towards the above amoung a fairly large number of women. I had the theory repeated back by a pastor the other day bemoaning the same trend in his congregation. Smarter girls with degrees and good jobs avoiding men or just being very picky and hence remaining single indefinitely.
