sounds nasty, even more than what we have had so far being downgraded to junk status ect...
would a political shift make any discernible difference? IE if the ANC lost majority, and was forced into a coalition, would the situation reverse itself?

Don't ask Visser to pontificate on reality, he's not good at it.

It was always going to go ahead.

The ANC are adamant, they will f*** this country up in their lifetime.

Just my opinion, but a political shift is not needed, at least not yet. If there is some leadership within the ANC who could still be in a position to stop and attempt to reverse the damage, then everything I said would come to be mere speculation.

However, if they push through with this, and the world starts taking actions by means such as sanctions, then the purpose thereof would be regime change. Sanctions will punish the whole country and it will stay there for decades until the people of the country is forced into standing up against the government.

But, it is clear that the current leadership of the ANC is not worried about the consequences and hell-bent on destroying what is left. Like a few ANC ministers already said, the country must first fall before they can build it up again. If this is indeed the case, nothing can be done to stop them.

No, sanctions normally are only felt 30-50 years after they started. After this period you normally will find governments on their knees begging for it to be lifted. They have no immediate effect other than small things like hunger, deaths, famine, etc. So, the full effects of sanctions will only be felt around 50-80 years from now.
