As the title says, I have a Dell laptop that doesn't charge. I just bought a new battery for it (non-Dell branded) and have tried it with a brand new Dell charger.
It runs off the battery, and it runs off the charger, but it doesn't charge the battery...
Any ideas if there's something I can do? Has anyone run into this before?
It might indicate faulty charging circuit on the laptop. In such case old battery might be still good, but flat.I probably should have said that it was the exact same with my previous (Dell branded) battery before it completely gave up the ghost...
Right. As it loses charge constantly, it is charging circuit in the laptop, not a battery. But:The original is a Dell Type WU946 battery. Not smart. At first it stopped recharging with only my charger, and then is stopped charging altogether. It would constantly lose charge until 0%.
+1. It could be a problem of not charging.Dell laptops use a special charging plug. The middle electrode in the plug tells the computer what charger is being used
