Yes, Mweb and I have travelled along way together and this is my final month with them. It is true I am leaving over the entire throttling debacle but if it had not been for that I would still be leaving as of today as they have been unable to inform users whether they are getting free upgrades with the Telkom free line speed increases. This while Telkom have indicated the increases will not include any ISP cost increase and in some cases have reduced price.
So while Mweb go from "Free the Web" to "Slow the Web" I am truly saddened. The end of an era for sure. I am still a customer till midnight November 30. Mweb, you have taught me alot about this countries ISPs:
1) Do not believe anything you read in any advertisment
2) Make sure you read the AUP
3) Never ever use their email services, rather use gmail or any other free service not linked to your ISP

MWEB RIP :( Exactly a year ago, MWEB was the best ISP :( They were honest. Until Derek came to end the Golden Age of the SA Internet so brutally. There was blood everywhere. Bones too.

Strangely, today is exactly a year since I was no longer on Mweb - account closed 31/10/2012.

It was a pretty sad day when it came to an end, I initially cancelled because I was going to be without any kind of ADSL for a while. But when I had the facilities again, I just couldn't justify the price anymore...

If it wasn't for Mweb Guy's awesome service I probably would have jumped ship long before, I may even have never actually signed up.

I do completely agree with the posts above though. Things have definitely changed at Mweb though, so sad to see - kinda like watching the Titanic meet it's inevitable fate.

That's kinda like feeling sad over the end of an abusive relationship :wtf:

Chin up, chances are you've already met a new ISP so in a short time you'll look back and wonder what you ever saw in them and why you stuck it out so long .. :whistling:

Seems like a situation of not being able to leave an abusive lover.

Rule of thumb for choosing your ADSL ISP: Go with the MyBB ISP of the year. Better yet, choose the winner of the coming year, but by definition that is a bit tricky.

If they don`t adjust:

4mb/s
mweb data + line bundle = R689
Mweb data + telkom line = R608? Profit from telkom.
Telkom data + line bundle = R548

I`ll definately be moving over. and I won`t be feeling sad at all. Don`t owe loyalty to any company.
