Hi, could someone on the MTN 3G network please ping smtp.saix.net and let me know the ping results.

Average: 727 ms but that's on GPRS, 3G should be better.

I'm not sure to be honest, don't really use MTN/Voda for anything that requires low latency so I've never bothered checking. I have heard of people gaming on it though if that's what you need it for?

Yeah, if HSDPA or 3G can handle battlefield 2 then I would be really interested. Its so much cheaper than Iburst.

Better coverage too, I mean you might not always get HSDPA but at least you can get some coverage basically anywhere, can't say the same for iBurst.

I'm getting an average ping of 382 to smtp.saix.net on Mtn HSDPA...

Lowest ping I've noticed before was just under 300 (can't remember exactly) but I've only had HSDPA in my area for two weeks so I'm still a newbie...

Have you checked the coverage map? It might be cheaper but it could also be a helluva lot slower.

I have had sub 300ms local ping just on rare moments on HSDPA. I queried MTN about this and was told this was normal. So I think sub 200ms is probably out.

On Vodacom I average about 120ms local on HSPDA - sub 100ms today pinging smtp.saix.net. 3G is not so good.

With 2 bars on MTN HSDPA I'm averaging 350ms ping to smtp.saix.net

I've been playing on the SAIX server for AA the whole weekend. My ping is fine @ about 40 - 60 mbs

Problem I'm having is the consistancy. It is very unstable @ times. I'll speak to MTNDD to have a look at this. With the new bundle ect. I think alot of people would be using it for online gaming and a constant ping is the only way !
