Did someone say flogging a Dead Horse - this little gem off the Internet
Flogging a dead horse.
The wisdom of some people, passed on from generation to generation, says that, "When you discover that you are riding a dead horse, the best thing is to dismount."
However, in government, education, and in corporate circles, more advanced strategies are often employed, such as:
1. Buy a stronger whip.
2. Change riders.
3. Appoint a committee to study the dead horse.
4. Arrange to visit other countries to see how other cultures adapted and possibly ride dead horses.
5. Lower standards so that dead horses can be included.
6. Reclassify the dead horse as living-impaired.
7. Hire outside contractors to ride the dead horse.
8. Harness several dead horses together to increase average speed.
9. Provide additional funding and/or training to increase dead horse performance.
10. Do a productivity study to see if lighter riders will improve the dead horse's performance.
11. Declare that, as the dead horse does not have to be fed, it is less costly, carries lower overhead and therefore contributes substantially more to the bottom line of the economy than do some other horses, especially the more active ones.
12. Rewrite the expected performance requirements for all dead horses.
13. Promote the dead horse to a supervisory position!
14. Give it a five year exclusive period
15. Get Tarifica to include it into a report
