LCD TV prices

I've read a review on the Register about the Samsung LED LCD 40" 7000 series TV (UE40b7000) for £1100.

Locally, we can get the 6000 series 40" LED LCD Samsung (UA40B6000) for R19,999.00.

Why so much more for a "older" model TV?

Mine got struck by lightning.
Need a new one, stuck between the new V 550 series which is now cheaper then what I paid for my older discontinued Vseries., W series or the Samsung...
