MyBroadband’s business IT decision-maker survey revealed that Google is the preferred cloud provider in South Africa.

The survey further showed that Teraco tops the data centre list, and Afrihost reigns supreme in the hosting sector.

Wha? I mean this is more scientific than anything I have done but in my experience the conversation is always around Azure vs AWS. And Google only being mentioned by marketing and advertising...

same here, was sent on courses for AWS and now Azure.... no google at all

I dunno, I don't think you're out of touch tbh.

AWS and Azure are vying hard for business in SA but I've heard not a peep out of Google over the years. Also I personally wouldn't trust Google for enterprise grade services with their habit of chopping and changing as often as they do.

My business used google for compute for a bit. They gave us $150k in credits which we burnt through in about 8 months and then moved on

AWS for IaaS, Azure for PaaS and Google for Gmail.

This is totally untrue for enterprise customers - no one uses GCP in prod for fintech etc...
