Leaf me alone. Let me just be a mildly satisfied rain user (will inevitably attract people who moan)

I have been a rain user (I use a rain SIM card for its intended use) for months now. I immediately ordered 3 SIMSs in the long gone days of them being free and having to pay for delivery. Those were the days of 7 days unlimited free use. I let my one cuz use one SIM for his household before they could get fibre. I stashed the 3rd and activated UOP on 1 with a 0GB limit for the month. This is now permanently in my dual SIM phone.

My brother has since started using the 2nd SIM after it too got stashed on return from my cuz. Bro activated unlimited 4G Home last month as he is working from home and he doesn't have the patience to wait for fibre to be installed when placing an order...he wants things to happen yesterday. So, he was satisfied that he could just stuff my dormant SIM in a Huawei B series. And it worked.

Now, in the days of Lockdown, I'm happy. I bum off his U4GH during peak. He deposits the money into my account for the debit to go off. We are a household of 5 adults. And 2 kids who no longer have to attend school, it appears. We Zoom. He games. He works from home. Other adults WhatsApp video call to far-off relatives. I post to myBB. We Netflix and chill. We DStv Now the free news channels. It all works. We are ashes about it being low res at times. Dit werk net.

We have no UHD displays. We hardly even use our HD Sony LED. We use a Mac and Windows laptops and a Windows desktop too (for his work from home). 7x Android phones permanently connected.

Oh. We are in an area with poor rain reception. Our down speed peaks at about 7Mbps on a good day. We don't care.

What is this grey plastic box against the outside of our boundary wall for? I heard some people complain about that too.

No doubt rain works well. But the 360p cap on YouTube is rediculous I'd like 720p. Then im a happy chappy.

I usually bitch a moan about Rain ...so yesterday their top customer support guy Faiz called me and we discussed my issues over a 20 minute phone call...they called me back after i left a ticket at their support site....magically overnight all my speeds are up and 5g CPE is working like the day they installed it i average 200-250 Mbps and my other complaint upload speed was fixed...Rain can fix things when there on the right program amazing how when things just work there are no complaints.:)

Looking at all the other posts on Rain, you'd think it's exclusively bad performance but that hasn't been my experience. I'm on the R479 24/7 package and I'm getting exactly what was promised. 10meg speeds all day (actually 11, but that's not significant) and 24/7 access. I even stream at 480p, better than their advertised 360p. Seems like what makes a huge difference is the tower you're connected to and the congestion on that. That might make it a bit of a lottery shoot, but for me (and other users I know) it works well. Have to give credit where it's due.

I use my Fibre for its intended use as well.
When I used a Rain SIM I didnt use it for its intended use. I once tried to jump start my car with it.

I am in the exact same boat as you has been working great non stop. Providing i connect to band 38 on my B618-22d. Youtube streams no problem at 480p, on my phones. And if i use opera browser on my pc i can stream at 720p. Im happy with the service so far no **** at all.

The MyBB articles of late are shafting rain. The way MTN & Vodacom have cut their data prices on contract data and now are being hailed as cheaper on all data. And then rain gets put there with R50/MB. Without even a mention of the 24/7 non-contract option at R479.
There was not praise when customer satisfaction for rain recently improved, to 3rd overall, behind VC and MTN. Ahead of Telkom and Cell C.
Rain is a lifleline for many non-contract users during this time when fibre is still not available to all and VC and MTN have been screwing the non-contract market.
I have mobile connectivity throughout the month. One payment. No contract. No ellaborate menu options to get to cheaper prepaid data bundles with tons of Ts &Cs.
