Dear All

Like subject title, does anyone have an idea whether signing documents with Adobe Reader is valid in South Africa? Even if both parties consent to using it?

I don't know about Adobe, but I have seen South African Accounting and Law Firms use Docusign.net in South Africa... Still don't know about the legal side though...

Done it many times without any issues.

Legality wise; I'm not certain.

What kind of signature are you talking about? Digital id signature, or just a physical/digital approximation of handwritten sig?

The "physical/digital approximation of handwritten sig" part...

Thanks for the other replies, I also regularly use it, though. Possibly one shouldn't use it where the legal formality of a physical signature is definitely required, ie purchase of immovable property...

When my bank sent me a PDF to sign it used used the Digital ID and not the handwritten signature scan. Maybe that is more binding?
