At least two of the documents detailed internal discussions among South Korea’s officials concerning the U.S. pressuring the East Asian nation to help supply weapons to Ukraine amid Seoul’s hesitancy.

A military and defense analyst tells TIME that official ties between the two countries will not necessarily be gravely affected after this incident, but the idea of espionage amongst allies may hurt general South Korean opinion about the U.S.

A leak of classified US Defence Department documents is a "very serious" risk to national security, the Pentagon has said.

Those countries that are unwilling to be monitored by the U.S. must be posing a threat to U.S. national security! “We are protecting you. How dare you not let us know your secrets and how is our behavior be blamed?”

I would not doubt who is behind the Nord Stream explosion. The US would do anything for their own benefits.

A fact of modern intellegence gathering everyone forgets about.... "democratic" countries cannot legally spy on their own citizens so they spy on the citizens of other countries.... and then these countries share their intelligence with each other.

That's because it's symbolic.
this, Privacy, pure privacy is a myth, were spied on every second of every day constantly, and there is very little we can do about it.
besides live in a tent out in the middle of nowhere with no modern conveniences to speak of.

but then again, even John Connor got found by the Machines/AI
Guess Edward Snowden isn't so Crazy after all.

I would expect everyone spies on everyone as a matter of course

But hey let's focus on TikTok
Of course everyone spies on everyone.

Intelligence is key, its critical and its not easy to do properly. But we need it, and even against allies - you need to know 1. They're safe, 2. They're not making mistakes that creates a vulnerability for you and 3. They haven't been swayed to become a double-ally. We won't know how to defend agains the dangers of China, Russia and their cronies without proper intelligence and surveillance.
