Shortcut. I see it every single day. All these muppets wanting to get Code 10 as they cannot do all the things required in the normal Code 8 test. Code 10 is thus deemed "easier". Muppets gets code 10 and cannot drive a normal motor car.

This. You should have to have a Code 8 in order to progress to a Code 10 like all the other license requirements.

A good idea but from an economic point of view this isn't feasible for a lot of people. Many can barely afford the driver's license. Yes there should be some kind of regulation against people who go for the truck license just to avoid the parking requirements on the B license. Problem is many people take the C option just on the off chance they can find work as drivers (mind you many of them have the license but can't drive, so they use it as a potential foot in the door & hope to learn on the job).

Why are people so harsh on the poor learner? Your driving test is already a very stressful experience and to have something like this happen is awful. I fully understand that under the circumstances she wasn't thinking clearly.

I highly doubt many of us would have reacted differently in that situation. It's a drivers test. People make mistakes all the time.

Are we making jokes in this thread or is it too soon ?

It was too soon earlier today. Now it is fine I believe.

Look on the bright side, she can wear blades now and retire early.

At least she will be able to park in the disabled parking.

I have a loathing for these driving test examiners. They are largely corrupt and so will milk you while letting bad drivers get their licences.

Horrible way to go though

Cough-cough, <<clears throat>> .... phlegm-phlegm.

I posted a long winded argument but I decided to delete it.

Point is ... drivers' licenses are given to adults. Take note.

Before you even started to phone some agency to instruct you in the finer points of driving ... you should already be familiar with the concepts of pedals making to vehicle going forward or stopping.

This country seemingly has accepted the possibility of an unreserved acceptation of the apology of "eish ... sorry".

I have a code 10. Not one accident in 4 years, and I know how to parallel parking.

It's just that when I arrived in SA, everybody told me to do a register for a Code 10 and not 8 (I had no idea it was a truck when I went to register) and I listened to them.

Same here. My driving instructor also told me the same. As for this accident happening I'm not suprised. I would wager that the woman had fewer than 5 driving lessons before she attempted to get her licence.

If she didn't understand the concept of pedals she wouldn't be taking the driving test, period. That's not the point. This was clearly a tragic accident.

I guess it's easy for people in retrospect to cry foul when they forget what a stressful experience your driver's test is. A friend of mine crashed her vehicle. I almost ran over a kid. People make mistakes in driving tests.

quite right - my bee student has failed 2 of these code 10 tests already at different testing places :wtf: yet he still drives his car without a licence

he even got caught one night plus he was "mildly" drunk" got away with it??!!

I just paid R40k for my code B license in Norway despite having my SA code B for 14 years. It included 20hrs of day driving, night driving, skid pad driving, open road driving and 1st aid training.

These shortcutting idiots can suck a dick.
