Takealot sells LEGO.

Have you seen Buckyballs... really fun to play with.

Kiddiwinks is the best I've heard from Lego heads. USA legislation prohibits the export of toys (tried many times to buy toys from Amazon) but you can buy via Takealot.

Kiddiwinks is pretty good, when they do have the sets, they tended to be a bit cheaper than takealot.

Eish, I just fell into this about a month ago. Have 4000 pieces now. Most i got from a second hand sale . A mother was clearing out her sons old toys and I snapped up the sale :) I have bought a few more sets over the past few weeks, but dam, they are expensive.

I've usually bought from Toy Kingdom. Everything I compared was cheaper than Kiddiwinks, but it always pays to check before buying. I'd not bother with the kits to build a specific model and rather buy boxes of blocks.

A new law? I've had no issues buying toys from the US.

No, a very old legislation.

When you do a checkout on Amazon US they tell you that restrictions prohibits them sending to outside of the United States. I would understand if it where for electronics or software, but not for toys. There have been so many cool toys my kids have wanted that I could not get from Amazon due to this.

Those would be restrictions put in place by the manufacturer or distributor. Unless of course Amazon cited the law in question.

Anybody got Mindstorm?

I would love to get this for myself and my son. He is three now, but if I play with him he will start understanding the concepts..

Its not legislation, it's Amazon company policy. Apparently they decided the losses they suffered due goods getting stolen where not worth it.

I don't think it's all countries either. I buy from Amazon often. But then the website is .co.uk site.

I have the old version, it rocks! Built some really cool stuff.

Then I went to varsity and haven't had time to play with it again :(

Although at 3 years old, I'm pretty sure its more for you than for him! :D

Its got nothing to do with South Africa, they do not ship outside North America on certain items - its the same as when you try and order a lighted Kindle 4 Cover from Amazon.us, you need to do it from Amazon.uk. This is when trying to buy a Kindle 4 which they do ship with DHL and then adding in the lighted cover.

This happened end of last month so nothing new. Its just my biggest frustration with Amazon since I started using them 8years ago.

I've got a Mindstorm - really awesome but in 3-4yrs I've only used a few times. Do not get it when your kids are too young (my mistake) as you do not want of your lego pieces going AWOL.

But its the best one for kids if they love to discover. They even use them at 3 of our local public primary schools to teach Grade 7s robotics and the kids take part in the Lego League.

My son is now 5 and hoefully he is old enough to start using my mindstorm (with supervision). My son also is only now discovering Legos and I'm amazed with what he is coming up with. But I always say each child is an individual so decide for yourself when your kid is ready.

Yea it would be primarily for me :D

But, noted I will wait for a year or two before [-]I buy it[/-] I let him play with it..
