In 2012, shortly after Google acquired Motorola, Motorola Mobility employed around 20,000 people. After these cuts, it seems that number will be closer to 500 - meaning Motorola Mobility will have lost 97.5% of its workforce over a span of four years.

:wtf:
Didn't know it was going that bad, over there. Such a shame, Google should've never sold.

They bought it for the patents , not the staffing. It wasn't profitable and lenovo already had equivalent staffing.

My Moto G1 still runs well

It got bad mostly due to bad management. Then Google acquired Motorola Mobility but all they were after were the thousands of patents Motorola owned. If they hung on to the brand it would have paid dividends but Google sold out.
Now the Chinese devils own it and are destroying the brand. Shame on them and shame on Google for being a bunch of sellouts. I currently have a Moto G3 and this will be my last Motorola phone. Moving on to Sony after this.

Google weren't sell outs. There was a tonne of pressure from the Android manufacturers that thought it unfair that the makers of Android owned a manufacturer.

I thought they bought the Moto patents so they could help with Apple's lawsuits on behalf of Android OEM's?
