Let's plant some trees

So this morning whilst scrolling through FB, I can across a random quote:

"If only trees boosted wi-fi signal, people would plant them every day."

It got me thinking about deforestation and the fact that the statement is true - people would plant them if they boosted wi-fi signal, but we take for granted the earth on which we stand.

Now, not to get on a whole crusade about it, but I decided I'll go plant a tree this weekend. Maybe in a vacant plot or somewhere it's unlikely to get destroyed, or uprooted due to development.

That got me thinking - why not make it a forum-wide thing? If 100 people planted a tree this weekend, that's 100 more trees doing their oxygen thing, as well as looking good.

Naturally, we should make sure these are trees native to the area, not some invasive species and ideally not in a water-starved area.

Anyone else keen to join in on this? Hell, we could do a MyBB event on this, get a bunch of us there, don a T-shirt and plant some trees in celebration of Arbor, Earth day or whatever.

Anyone else keen to join me in this?

Having the same issue trying to determine where to do it where they won't be lost in a year, and I won't get shot for trespassing.
They're still small... will make a difference in a few years at least.

Wife loves gardening, I... don't, so I gladly let her do it.

Delegation is a valid management skill. :D

Sounds like a plan!

Plant from seed it won't need much water.

All the coral tree's are in flower in PE at the moment so there are plenty of free lucky bean's to sprout, they are hardy and indigenous.

I would like to see Malls and shopping centres who have taken thousands upon thousands of square meters of land to make huge concrete structures to do their part by planting beautiful evergreen trees in the usually dull looking parking lots :erm:
