bad drivers cause accidents, with a new audi you can drive 140 or 160 if you are a very good driver, with an advanced license, and not cause accidents.

on the other hand people would agree with me that taxis driving at 30km/h is too slow and is an annoyance which can lead to accidents, if they drive at 60km/s without a license is it just as dangerous as the audi driver doing 200km/h

I do agree, felt the nearest to crashing my car this weekend when I needed to slam on the brakes for a bakkie pulling a cresida with a venter trailer. No hazzards or anything. The rest of the time driving just above 140km/h I felt 100% safe.

reckless driving kills. morons that overtake on blind rises, double lines, drive without hazards when towing stuff, pulling off anywhere next to the road without thinking about it first - and sometimes without warning. accidents will always happen, but here in SA i think the majority are caused by idiots who should be nowhere near a steering wheel.

just take your family on the roads during the festive season - you all know what i'm talking about. I feel like I risk my life everytime i hit the road.

Nowhere in the article does it mention the aproximate speed the vehicles were travelling and in the bus accident the driver lost control of the bus quite easy to do if you not paying attention also the bus driver was reported to be driving under the influence last year.

So was it speed ?

Just came from a drink with a friend, there where she stays is a "road of death", badly maintained, no verges at all, hardlyt visible road markings, tosn of people die there, most white people wont drive on it at night since its such a deathtrap. Now tell me, whose fault is a badly maintained deathtrap road?

Were should the charges being laid? The bus driver or the idiot that gave that guy a second chance?

good question. bottom line is, when you're on the road, you're in a war zone. every man for himself.

And for that bus driver it was for himself, why care about the other people with families giving him the FULL responsibility of getting them safe to their destenation.

I still maintain vehicles and drivers should be licensed for speed, but that would be impractical to enforce.

There is a big difference between a 1300 Citi Golf at 160 km/h and a Lambo at 300 km/h. I would feel safe in the lambo.
What is required is for the law to decide. Fine to refer a speeding fine to the law rather than have a blanket statement of speed be enforced.

What next ? a speed restriction on airplanes? NO PLANE MAY EXCEEDTHE SPEED OF 120 KM/H on the runway while landing or taking off, as that exceeds the speed limit on any national road.

Ridiculous it is indeed but we want a Ferrari to be bound to the same rules as a Taxi with cardboard brakes?
