Yes you need FroYo for that as far as I know.

Feeling a bit lack lustred with eclair, 3G hot spot and on the fly 3G 2G flip mode ( on gingerbread )
Got extra apps to do this, but still cant do it on the fly.

WILL Attempt froyo update THANK YOU !

Also,supposedly dramatic increase on quadrant performance with Android OS upgrades.

If anyone has Moto Mb525 Froyo or gingerbread Quadrant scores, I'd appreciate them

Result: 1789 Photo Here

Sys Info:
Android Ver: 2.3.3 (Gingerbread) Stock SBF with MotoBLUR
CPU Freq: 1GHz

Yup, constant @ 1GHz, no crashes and the system runs very smooth. Only issue so far is that I can't get root :mad:

Sadly already tried SuperOneClick v2.1.1 without success, It seems Google plugged the exploit that GingerBreak uses to gain root, so I'll have to wait for the devs to find a new method

Have to be honest - I was dead keen on getting the Motorola Defy and a Cell C store in Johannesburg even located one for me. I haven't been able to get to them in the past two weeks due to a very hectic schedule and eventually asked them to give it to someone else. I ended up going with the LG Optimus Black and I've been really impressed so far. I'd still prefer the more robust build of the Motorola Defy so I'm now trying to track down a decent cover for the Optimus. If anyone can recommend a good case I'd be really grateful.

Also looking for one available locally. Been to Vodacom World/Vodaworld, could not find one.

Good luck getting any cases or screen covers for the Optimus Black. No one has any, and LG don't have an ETA of when they'll be available. I ended up buying a Capdase generic screen cover and cutting it to size.

Have logged a complaint with HelloPeter for LG on the lack of Gingerbread update (LG said it would be available middle of September) and also about their lack of cases. No response as yet but I only logged the complaint on Monday.

Will most likely be ordering a few cases from Amazon UK and getting my mother-in-law to post them to me. They're dirt cheap at 2 pounds or so for the soft cases so I'll get a hard case and 2 or 3 different soft cases.

P.S. Phone is pretty good, not too keen on the fact that LG removed the VPN option as they can't get the phone to work with it. And the ongoing LG problem with the responsivness on the touch screen is a slight irritation. Otherwise quite happy especially for the price. Recommending my father gets the Motorola Defy though as he needs a rugged phone.

Like wizzball said, its hard getting accessory for the Optimus Black, is one of my Favorited phone.
Will try and find out when LG will be launching accessory's for the phone.
