LG V30 to be announced at IFA in Berlin — report

LG-V30.jpg

According to a recent report by ETNews, LG will show off the upcoming V30 at IFA in Berlin. The company will officially announce the device during an event taking place one day before IFA kicks off, on August 31. This lines up with previous speculation we deemed likely to be true.

The report also claims that the phablet will go up for pre-order in South Korea more or less right after its reveal, where it will retail for 800,000 KRW (around $700). It will officially go on sale in September in the country and will probably make its way to other markets around the world about a month later, just like the V20.

The LG V30 will go head to head with the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, which is expected to be announced around the same time (August 26 to be precise). The V30 will reportedly be quite different than its predecessor in terms of design and will look a lot more like the G6. This is probably considered as a good thing by most users because it means that the phablet will have small bezels around the screen.

The V30 is expected to feature an OLED display, the latest Snapdragon 835 chipset, a dual-camera setup on the back, a new ESS Quad DAC, 3.5 mm headphone port, and come in three storage variants: 32, 64, and 128 GB. Unlike its predecessor, it won’t have a removable battery, likely because it will be resistant to water and dust. It will also feature a secondary screen on top, just like the other smartphones in the V series.

Based on the info we have so far, the V30 sound like a very promising device that just might give the Galaxy Note 8 a run for its money. Especially if it will carry a more affordable price tag than Samsung’s second-half flagship. Now we just have to wait and see if the V30 gets a global launch this time around.

LG V30 to deliver better audio with custom Hi-Fi

This week will be all about IFA and on August 31, we’ll get to see the new LG V30. The other South Korean tech giant’s premium flagship phone will be last year’s V20 follow-up but it will arrive with a few changes including the HD TouchSense technology, UX 6.0+, dual cameras with large f/1.6 aperture, glass Crystal Clear lens, and a floating bar instead of a secondary screen.

We already know the phone will boast of an OLED FullVision display. Now we’ve got information about the LG V30’s audio. The phone will feature next-gen audio that improves on the Hi-Fi Quad DAC found on the V20. For the new V smartphone, there will be a Hi-Fi Quad DAC which is actually powered by the SABRE ES9218P by ESS Technology. This brings sound presets and digital filters as major features that audiophiles will love.

This new Advanced Hi-Fi Quad DAC delivers more options for customizations. The technology usually found in digital audio players are being brought to smartphones now, offering digital filters. As for the sound presents, LG engineers and devs looked at the characteristics and combination of sounds of some popular tones to come up with optimal pre-programmed settings. The top four settings identified are as follows: Bass, Live, Enhanced, and Detailed.

Some other highlights of LG’s new audio technology include improvements on Hi-Fi Quad DAC controls, cutting down of distortion rate, high-resolution audio streaming, and the HD Audio Recorder. LG still takes advantage of its partnership with B&O PLAY for a more refined audio and fine-tuning. A pair of B&O PLAY earphones will still be offered with LG V30 owners similar to the LG V20.

LG V30 hands-on image appears on Weibo

LG is set to launch the V30 as its latest premium flagship this coming August 31. We know it will be a busy week not only for LG but also for other top OEMs who are launching new products and services at the IFA 2017 in Berlin, Germany. As for LG, the V30 offering will directly rival the newly unveiled Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and the yet to be unveiled Apple iPhone 8. We’re still a few days before the official reveal but we expect more teasers and early appearances.

LG isn’t selfish when it comes to sharing details and upcoming features. The company has already confirmed the HD TouchSense technology, LG UX 6.0+, glass Crystal Clear lens, dual cameras with large f/1.6 aperture, OLED FullVision display, and the floating bar. There will be no more secondary screen and we know its phone cam will be better than the G6.

The latest leaked phone that appeared on Weibo is said to be an early hands-on image. Thanks to our Chinese friends who never fail to share their discoveries. Weibo, which is considered as the Chinese Twitter or Reddit, is a place to check if you want more information or possibly early sightings.

The LG V30 here shows the edge-to-edge and almost bezel-less 6-inch screen. This is the FullVision display LG first introduced with the G6. To review, here are the specs we know so far: Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB or 6GB RAM, dual rear cameras, wireless charging, glass back, and an 18:9 aspect ratio.

It looks really nice. I just unfortunately lost faith in lg

to me it's like the G6 with a new screen... that is all .... and for me, they dropped the most useful feature from the V20... so I'll definitely not get this one.

I'm with Michelle - I watched the entire presentation and was not really impressed, very minor improvements. The OLED screen that they will be using will be great however.....but then you can get that on a Samsung or the soon to be released Xiaomi Mi Mix 2

The media are impressed with the V30, but I also don't see why except for the Display, it is literally a G6 with Snap 835.

At least with the Note 8 you get more RAM, Dual OIS and the SPen, vs. The S8.

How is the front facing camera. Been alot of bad reviews on it.
Looks like a stunning device
To be honest I havent played with the front facing camera yet.
Only tested the rear camera and the pics seem to look better than on my iPhone X, especially in low light comditions. Wide angle feature is amazing.

I found that the face unlocking works a lot better compared to the Galaxy S8 plus. The fingerprint scanner is also in a much better spot compared to the S8 plus imho.

Sound over headphones using Quad DAC is amazing too.

Battery life seems good too.

Snappy phone (especially if you change the animation speed from 1 to 0.5) and brings a very close feeling to vanilla android.

Best android phone I have had in years. Will see how the 5T compares once delivered.
