Limpopo fighter Tsiko Mulovedzi, who beat Ali Funeka in East London on Friday to win the IBO welter-weight crown, is accused of casting a muti spell on his opponent, according to a report.
The accusations were made by Funeka’s trainer Dokes Sikonyela after Mulovedzi dethroned Funeka off the IBO title, Daily Dispatch reported.
Mulovedzi, who has a record of seven losses and three draws in 22 fights, dropped Funeka four times en route to a fifth-round stoppage victory.
Funeka, 37, is a veteran of 43 fights with just three losses.
According to the paper, rumours were rife that Mulovedzi’s camp were seen with suspicious muti objects.
The muti spell on Funeka, according to Sikonyeli, glazed his eyes every time Funeka returned to the corner after each round.
“I have never seen Ali looking like that,” said Sikonyeli.
