Hi there

I need some help from you guys. I've had some issues with upgrading my line speed. Spoke to TELKOMZA and he advised that I ask to be transferred to the newly deployed ISAM.
I managed to get them to do this (I hope)
So what exactly is the difference? Will i see any difference in terms of attenuation and SNR?

Many thanks

MSAN is from Huawei
ISAM is from Alcatel Lucent

they do the same thing

That will depend mainly on the quality and length of the copper line between the ISAM and your router. If anything you should experience less congestion at peak periods.

Only if they replace the line. If they use the same line there will be no difference. MSAN and ISAM are the same thing.

Ok. Thanks guys. Basically, I'm 3.5 km from the exchange and when they set my line to 8mbps I had a snr of 6.1. They didn't want to leave it at that so set it back to 4mbps. Do you think that it would be unstable?

UPDATE:
I was transferred to a ISAM this evening. My Attenuation and SNR has gotten worse. The technician told me it shouldn't have changed. How is this possible? My Attenuation is now 49, was previously 47.
