Linkin Park Considering 2025 Reunion Tour With New Vocalist

Those guys should've started a new band and toured that instead of (what feels like) them riding the Linkin Park name this long. Anyway I'd probably still go if they get the new singer right...they're sure as **** better know how to scream.

Why?

Alice in Chains have been going longer without Layne Stayley than they did with him. Granted, Jerry Cantrell's vocals are eerily similar to Layne's so their sound hasn't changed that much.

some bands can get a new lead singer and have a massive increase in popularity because of a new energy brought to the band.

Look at eskimo callboy when Nico joined them, the change in energy that thoey brought with Hypa Hypa and WE got the moves was a whole new level. they then renamed the band to Electric callboy, and basically documented everything and included their fans though Youtube in the reasoning and everything and they are playing sold out shows in Europe, Australia and the USA, but the show they did here in 2016 before Nico joined did not even sell out.....

or you can look at Lorna Shore replacing a vocalist after the album was recorded in 2019 (for valid reason) and then having the temp vocalist that they used for the tour go absolutely Viral and then the band exploding even more because of it. The first song that went Viral by will ramos in Lorna shore just started playing as I was typing this lol

I think because they didn't keep going. It's been what - 7'ish years already? Just feels like the time for reviving LP has passed. Chesters voice was also so unique that replacing it seems like quite a challenge. But I'm happy to admit it might end up being a good idea & I enjoy what they do with it.

I thought LP was considering Ai Mori. But her English wasnt good. That was 3 years ago so...

I thought her cover of crawling wasnt too bad either.

I would absolutely drop any issues I have with this reform if they get her as the lead singer, her voice is amazing!

Then there are some bands that are totally different because every member has changed but they managed to somehow continue. Pretty sure that is the cash with SmashMouth who had decent popularity in the early 2000s.

The Ataris also had a bad reputation for changing members regularly. The lead singer must have been a very difficult guy to work with as he is the only guy who was constantly there.

I agree, they should leave the Linkin Park legacy where it was and start something new with a new vocalist and whatever sound they choose. It feels like the "Linkin Park" brand is tightly centered around the band as a whole, and not having Chester will just not be the same thing, so should not be branded the same

Like Journey. Same band, same name, all new crew now carrying the flag. It's not the same.

I think most guys and some ladies will absolutely completely agree with you if voice is not the sole motivator.

Sepultura have had about 600 different members and the founding Cavalera brothers haven't been members for nearly 20-years now.

Also noteworthy is that the article says that only three former LP members want a return but they had five members excluding Chester.

Mike is almost definitely part of those three as it would be an unrecognizable LP without him but wonder if the other two will eventually come on board or if they will also need to bring in two touring members.

If Mr Hahn is one of the two, they won't need to really replace him. Limp Bizkit played without DJ Lethal for some time and did not replace him.

Bit off topic but these guys have always reminded me of LP. 4 years old but they’ve gotten really good over the years:

Money is there to be made. They'd have retired officially long ago if they could see the tours not doing well.

With early 2000's style music having made a comeback, it won't be surprising if this tour even does better than the tours in the peak of their career.

That is what is now happening with some of the early 2000s pop punk bands now and Linkin Park are a bigger name than them.

These guys don't desperately need money though and they always took long to drop a new album (which indicates they don't just drop albums for the sake of it to make some extra cash). I can see them coming up with some good music.
Kids these days listening to a lot of music from the the 2004 to 2012 period. It's kind of interesting these days to go back to playlists from those years and rediscover the few artist who fell off.
