Hi, I am expecting fibre to be installed at my home soon...

I have one of those old Linksys (Cisco) WRT54GL routers lying around that I haven't used in a couple of years.

Does anyone know if I can use the WRT54GL as my Fibre Broadband Router? Will it work?

Please let me know if you have any experience with this, thanks.

According to the Linksys site, it does have a WAN port so it should work...

But that thing is ancient... wow

Yes will work but you will get drastically reduced speeds because its only 10/100 and the WIFI speeds is 54 megabit.

Worth spending the money on Gigabit LAN with a router that supports faster WIFI.

Hence the reason I said it's ancient :whistling:

I'm using the Ubiquiti AmpliFi in my home for wireless, so I will disable WiFi on the WRT54GL router.

I just need to know if I can use the WRT54GL router as my fibre gateway (broadband) router; and since it has WAN port with PPPoE it might work...

Thanks for the input.

The main AmpliFi unit is also a router - why not use it's WAN port?
