Hi there.

Does anyone know whether Linux includes support for the MTN datacards (the Fastlink E620)?

I am unable to find any technical detail on these cards on the web. Does anyone here have access to more technical specifcations such as the chipset and AT command set?

An FCC number would also help towards identifying the chipset underneath the marketing.

Hi!
The card looks like it is originally a Huawei E620.
There are no Linux drivers from Huawei (****e customer support) as far as i can see, but i have some programs that may or may not help. Too bad i can't upload here, as i seem to have lost the links.
But you can try searching for them: comgt and umtsmon
And if you can get these things working, please tell me because i'm not even capable of understanding Linux for Dummies, and i'm going to try to use this card very soon :)

Lol.. :D
The original post is over a year old.. :D

Have a look in the linux section: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=151
Specifically read Tazz_Tux's datacard howto.

There's plenty of support for the datacards under Linux..
The Fastlink E620 is indeed the Huawei E620 .. and it has been made to work succesfully by many forumites.. myself excluded - I don't have an E620..

Actually never said there was no Linux support for the datacards, I said there was none from Huawei. As far as I could see at least.
I still think it's sloppy of a big company like that to not include any support for Linux. Actually very little support at all in this case, but I guess the support is the responsibility of the Network Provider in this case?
