Edit : Note that my Cell C reception is good, just zero throughput !

Fish Hoek, CPT - had full signal and "3G" but no data what so ever, had to switch to a Vodacom dongle and that worked fine.

Cell C has conducted a high-level investigation of the network, following complaints by customers who were unable to connect to the Internet despite strong signal. Cell C together with its vendor Huawei uncovered an underlying problem on our IT platform. Cell C and Huawei are working around the clock to find a solution to the problem.

They haven't got any information yet. They are still deciding on who has to go look at the problem. One guy proposed they should draw straws but the others weren't happy with that idea.

Have to switch the data on and off periodically to get some data through for a few minutes at best.

Adding another for JHB CBD. Can't make or receive any calls inside Bank City. Data is completely dead.

UJ (University of Johannesburg), Auckland Park and surrounds seems to have this problem every day. I get close to UJ, at about 9am and there is no internet.
Im there till 1pm, still no internet.
Get to empire road and the M1, and cellc kicks back into life!
Thank goodness for UJ wifi. And this has been the case for the last month probably!

This weekend was the last straw for me. Was visiting a mate in Wilgeheuwel Roodepoort and for the duration of my visit (from 14:00 till 22:30) the data was just about unusable. Websites were frequently timing out and I couldn't even stream low quality audio let alone try to play a Youtube video. Completely unacceptable.

No point in owning a smartphone if you're on the Cell C network imo.

I'll be porting back to Vodascum once I've used whats left of my airtime.

That's where I live. Cell C should really go look at that tower there.
