On my E367 with external antenna, usually I see pretty poor local download speeds of around 1-1.5mbps this time of the evening (8pm).
For some reason, this evening, I am seeing a consistent 8mbps download since I started checking around 6:15pm.
I normally only see these high speeds in the mornings around 8am. This is quite unusual.
However, still seeing issues with web pages stalling while waiting for fonts.googleapis.com, ajax.googleapis.com and google-analytics.com for example. Even these forum pages are struggling to load completely and need refreshing. This same problem does not occur in the mornings.
To me this somehow looks like a possible dns server response time issue.
I have been experimenting with the standard 8ta supplied dns servers:
196.43.34.190
196.43.46.190
Vs. the google ones:
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
Results of this are not really conclusive though.

What about ping times when it happens? Also trace route consistency? I found in similiar situation it was inconsistent network response. The first time it looked like DNS problems, but further test showed otherwise.
Search for my past complains, it was cured by lowering my average speed, but giving more consistent results. So I suspect my modem is prevented from going on higher order modulation. When you talk about faster downloads combined with these problems, it comes to my mind.
I'm not sure what the original intention of this thread was.
"night time data issues" is a bit too generic.
Are people posting here, referring to low download speeds only or this issue of web pages not loading completely?? General sluggish or erratic browsing?
My speeds this morning are pretty much the same as last night, hovering around the 7-8Mbps mark.
The web pages that were struggling to load last night and needed multiple refreshes are not having that problem this morning at all. Browsing in general is pretty responsive, with pages loading quickly.
It doesn't look like a speed related issue.
I confirmed with a friend in a nearby suburb about 5km away also on 8ta, who was having the same frustration last night with web pages not loading. He was only getting speeds around 0.7-0.9Mbps. (He is on the outer fringe of the coverage area, with no external antenna)
I'll look at some ping and trace tests this evening.

They are totally useless.....the tower in Durban Rd is less than 2km from my house, happy with my Giganite20 from CellC
That explains why the upgrades aren't happening in your city. Hopefully once Johannesburg has been upgraded then I can comment on CELL C but at the moment 8ta FTW for me
hehe, Yeah i even had one of the 8ta people drive all the way to my property to check my signal strength, almost full bars perfect speeds during the day and then during night time it's just unusable, it's gotten worse actually 3 months ago i could use up 20GB of bandwith without any problem within a couple of days, now I have cancelled my nighttime on one of my packages cause I'm left with so much bandwith it's not even funny.
Also don't think you can spend your bandwith downlaoding anything it simple disconnects the device and your connection drops and your download is screwed, using download manager helps, but a lot of the time certain stuff you just can resume downloading.
I actually told the guy at my property they are throttling the connection and they should plz remove me he just smiled but knew exactly what I'm talking about.
One thing is for sure filling in any forms is a waste of time your not gonna get anywhere, they oversell themselves and end up unable to cope with the demand and then throttles ppl, it's as simple as that.
What can we do about it absolutely nothing except move to another country, moving ISP will not really gett you anywhere cause everyone is just as bad as the other and we the consumers pay and pay and pay.

I see lots of comments here about getting throttled at night?
We must be getting throttled in the evenings, it's happened too many times in a row now (23:00-5:00am) 60gigs for night data but you can only download 100megs in 6 hours, whats the point?
