I'm using an iPad on Cell C prepaid. I don't see the new bundles in my USSD menu, only the old ones. If I recharge will I use data @ 0.15c a MB? I know this sounds unnecessary to ask but I'm seeing people say you must buy a bundle ... and last time I recharged my data was gone really quickly. Thanks

HI

Yes the 0.15c is OOB rate, so if you load Data and run out before end of the month, you will be charged 0.15c OOB for remainder of the month.

But if I just load some airtime, I won't get charged at 0.15c? I must first use up a data bundle? Kinda sucks because I don't know how to buy the new cheap ones.

Thanks, no I'll just take out my SIM card and put it in my phone. Quite annoying that I have to load a bundle, would be nice if it was just 0.15c a MB straight up. But it's still better than it was.

Still did get clarity on my query for contract straight up package users. We get data as part of the deal. Should I buy a recurring data bundle, what would I get charged once my straight up data bundle and then recurring bundles are utilised??

0.15c or 99c as straight up data OOB rates are 99c!

If you don't purchase a data bundle, you'll be charged 99c per MB (if you are on the 99c For Real prepaid deal).

You could purchase the smallest data bundle, and once your bundle is depleted, you will then be billed the OOB rate at 0.15c per MB. But I recommend buying a higher data bundle, so that you can keep track of how fast data is being consumed.

You can't really monitor your usage if you buy a small bundle, and then just pay OOB

StraightUp OOB rate was 99c per MB. It is now 15c per MB. So you don't need to do anything.

It was in their press release. They said all OOB rates across the board have been slashed to 15c per MB. Now we already know every StraightUp package comes with a data bundle, hence their OOB rates will now be 15c per MB.

Remember the OOB rate only applies if you have a bundle. So for example, if you have 99c For Real prepaid deal, and you don't load a bundle, you pay 99c per MB. But if you do load a bundle, then you pay 15c OOB rate when the bundle is depleted.

The Out-of-Bundle rate and No-Bundle-Rate are two different things. Though I feel to understandy why. They just make it 15c per MB accross the board, no matter what, in bundle, out of bundle, no bundle, etc. It's probably a technical limitation.

No, the included MB do not count as a bundle, and then when you have finished the included MB you pay 99c... this is confusing. Correct me if I am wrong?

It is confusing. Basically I think you buy a bundle, and therafter your OOB is 0.15c a MB. I know I bought airtime earlier this month and it was @ R.99 a MB. But load a bundle and it changes.

What confuses me the most is they don't even need bundles. If everything is 0.15c a MB, why even have bundles? Just charge 0.15c flat rate.

Where did you get the above info from? That could be stale information - reflecting the pricing when StraightUp first launched 2 months ago. The 15c data rate was only launched 2 weeks ago.

I think there must be some sort of technical limitation. Or perhaps in future they might want to differentiate their pricing again.

Good Day

THe OOB 0.15c is only applies for loaded data bundles.

EG.... if you load an extra data package to sim pre- paid / post , once that bundle reaches OOB it will go to 0.15c OOB.
the data you get on straight up packages is at that packages tariff rate.
