Loooooool. Are they telling me that I'll be arrested for using sportlemon.tv?

I see where they got it from...

“In a word – illegal, illegal, illegal,” said van der Berg in response to questions about the legality of widely available live streaming websites in other countries, and South Africans using these websites for Olympics streaming.

FU Clinton, FU!

Illegal is a strong word. They could potentially sue the person offering the streams, but they would have absolutely no claim against you for watching it.

That's like saying that you're not allowed to go over to someone's house to watch the olympics.

Screw them and their monopoly, nobody is going to go and subscribe to DSTV after reading this article, so their scaremongering is only showing them in a bad light.

Hahahahaha! Van der Berg would have been more accurate saying it's "not cool" and they're losing a lot of potential advertising revenue than trying to claim it's "illegal".

Legal = Law
Olympic broadcast and franchising agreements <> Law
-Olympic broadcast and franchising agreements <> Illegal
QED

Chop...

"exclusive Internet rights"
had a good laugh about that

Ummm, no its not illegal Clinton my boy.

When you've learnt the difference between stopping other people PROVIDING a service in a country, and your potential customers consuming said service... then we can talk.

I hope MyBB actually does a follow up on this one to show Clinton how he is being a complete idiot.

Why doesn't DSTV just provide free streaming and pop in a few ads.

However, van der Berg said that that these unofficial streaming websites are not legal. He added that using these sites to watch the 2012 London Olympic Games live is also illegal.

Prove it, sue us or stfu.

My standard response to this sort of crap should suffice here...

Because they can't look past a model tied to satellite subscriptions.

They have already lost a lot of viewers to the internet and will lose even more as bandwidth becomes cheaper. Despite the fact that these other services are illegal. Sooner they realise this the better.

The internet will make exclusive regional rights irrelevant, just watch and see... Well, I hope so anyway :p

I watched last night's 100m on BBC ;)

If I was to defy the mighty Supersport and stream illegal Olympic content I'd be pissed to see how much better the quality of the illegal stream is!
