DStv's edge over Netflix

While Netflix is the world's top service in on-demand video streaming, its plan to ramp up its live streaming offering to compete with seasoned live content broadcasters and streamers like DStv could prove challenging and take time.

Netflix's online streaming services were first launched in 2007, but its first live stream happened in March 2023, when it showed a live comedy special by Chris Rock.

They couldn't even be bothered to throw us an upscaled 1080p 4K bone for the RWC. And this is coming from a MC apologist.

Well, well, well... Ain't it just beautiful...

Dstv struggled with capacity with the RWC, constantly dropping the bitrates, even dropping out completely. That's on the best and fastest internet...
"Best CDN" in Sub-Saharan Africa? Care to name one?

Encoding a video stream with DRM is quite difficult, (encoding with different formats) but the thing is, it needs to decode fast enough on the other side, and in multiple formats. Like AV1, amongst others.

2008 YouTube called and their want their 720p bitrate back.
Thought it couldn't be that bad, so I subscribed to Showmax recently.
Set the quality to high, but it looked crap and I only have a 43" screen:confused:

YouTube playback looks way better.
