@Eskom_SA: Please note that stage 2 #load_shedding will resume from 06h00 to 22h00 tomorrow. Load shedding is necessary to protect the power system.

I'm an optimist but ... damn. Time to invest in your own hardware ...

Seriously, what the hell is going on with Eskom since Sunday? Is a power station offline or something? Or is this just how it's going to be every day until spring?

Bet you it will go to Stage 3 again at 16:00.

My over-10-years-old fluorescent tube emergency lights (which have new 6v 4.5ah batteries) cant recover by the time Stage 3 hits for a second time. I guess I will have to spend on the LED Ultratec lights...

Second day in a row our office in the CBD (Upper Loop Street by the church) has been scheduled to be off and it hasn't happened. We're area 7 in Cape Town and are supposed to be off between 06h00 and 08h30 this morning. Yesterday we had the 14h00 - 16h30 slot. Power has been uninterrupted. Other parts of the City Bowl were off when I came in this morning, but since the weekend, our office has been on.

Very strange. I'm not complaining but it does make planning difficult. How often do they update the list of areas exempt? We are only a few blocks up from the govt buildings and the high court, but that hasn't spared us before.

Or could it be related to the fact that the World Travel Market Africa (big tourism trade show) is currently on at the CTICC and not wanting to look bad to the travel trade?

Do they skip industrial areas? We were supposed to be cut off at 7:30 at work but it's still on
