Giner Beer (Cola recipe) has stopped bubbling after about 4.5 days. Does this mean the yeast is dead ?
No. It possibly means the yeast has eaten all the sugar and there's nothing left. In other words, your primary fermentation is complete.

Why did you add raisins? Did you boil them before adding them to ensure they're sterile?
The little fungis stopped having a bubble party and i thought they might be hungry. Yeah boiled and chopped.

How long did you leave them in there for? Also, why did they stop? What did the mead taste like before you added the raisins?

Yeah have lots of 500ml botels so adding about 5g
If you're using sucrose, use half that to be safe. 2.5g per 500ml.

Tasted like ginger beer without the ginger and almost no kick. Still very sweet, a week after the raisins it had some kick to it and wasn't overly sweet anymore, however I think some nasties came with the raisins because it started to smell a bit bad after 2 weeks. Think it was starting to ferment like a mampoer brew, which is why I distilled it.

Yep. Fruit should never lie in the fermenter that long. 5~7 days maximum, I'd say. The raisins rotted, unfortunately. You can try and distill that batch if you have the means?

Someone mentioned Beer Bros (I think it was in this thread) along with their BBB membership/registration. Looking at that site, what I want to know, is why do they want my ID number? That's not gonna happen without a very good reason.

They are in Hilcrest. Did they ask for your D.O.B before asking for ID no?

They did not ask date of birth, and if they require ID number to check age, why is there an option stating you don't have a za ID number (I'm assuming foreigners living in S.A)?
