This was discussed shortly after it happened. They added hand sanitizer and meths if memory serves to up the kick in their homebrew because they were idiots. Go back a bit and you will see where it was talked about.
Oh wasn’t aware. That’s hectic though

Going to bottle today. Using 2.25lt bottles. How much sugar to add for carbonation? Earlier posts said 2.5g for 500ml so 10g per bottle?

when i bottle my Coopers i use 2 level teaspoons per 1 litre bottle and my glass bottles are fine

however with the pineapple beer and using plastic PET bottles i found them to be rock hard and had to burp them twice a day for 2 days
then when it comes to opening them for drinking i cannot just unscrew the cap as half will overflow like a champagne bottle on New Yrs Eve
i have to open very very very slowly, takes over 3 minutes
and only then i can pour

so for the homemade stuff i would use half that amount and see how it goes

How do you sanitize the bucket you are making your brew in and do you need to do the same for the bottles you store them in?

Most homebrew is done at 8g per liter. With the pineapple/ginger/etc beers I like a little more. 9-10g per liter.

everything, even the caps, the spoon you stir it with etc.

use miltons or diluted unscented bleach
Thanks, going to buy some today.

Also got this big boy here from takealot, it has a heating element so I can do all my brewing and storing in this one unit. Will grab some cola 2L bottles to bottle thereafter.

as Tom mentioned
Sanitize every single thing
i just use a cup of unscented jik as it is the cheapest per quarter bath full water
throw everything in there and let it soak for 30 min
quick rinse with water and you are good to go, often i skip this step if im in a hurry and so far nothing has happened to me

I've got a bit of an oversupply at the moment so I'm making a more robust pineapple beverage via the freezer.

My homemade pineapple beer still has enough fermentation left to carbonate when I bottle so that I don't have to add anything.

And I've bottled and drank it anywhere from day 3 to day 7.

If your bottle is bursting or needs to be burped it surely means 1st fermentation isn't done? Either the yeast is becoming In-active cause the alcohol content is too high and sugar is still left. Or you adding to much sugar at carbonation. Are you guys checking the gravity is around 1000 and stable for a few days before bottling?
