Devil's Peak is one of the brands you can't cap with a twin-lever capper. The ring below the top section where the cap seals isn't deep enough for the twin lever capper to grip and force the cap over. Been there, done that, lost several litres of beer and tossed out all my Devil's Peak bottles.

Well bugger

glad i never returned my bottles to the bottle store, looking forward to bottling later in the month
i must just stockpile on caps next week as they are dirt cheap and the last thing i need this year is for there to be a shortage on caps for whatever reason

SAB Quart bottles work really well though. Castle Lager and Lion quarts at least. I'm going to be buying a few Lion quarts in the future just to get the bottles. They fit in my crates and I then bottle 750ml at a time. I rarely drink just one 440ml beer anyway, and my glasses I bought for my beering holds 550ml so 750ml makes sense. 440ml swintops for the rest.

Doubt you'll find a shortage on caps. Stores have piles of them in their THOUSANDS.

Yeah, I got 24x Lion and 1x Hansa from neighbors. but thanks to you bursting my Devils Peak situation, I am now 3.6L short on bottles. Will ask the Pick n Pay manager if they have any quart bottles that are empty in the loading dock area that I can pay them the deposit on and get.

You make a good point there. Thinking I should get an order for some grains, hops, priming sugars etc in. One 23L batch is not going to last forever.

Any screw top caps anywhere? Can't find any.

Your other option is to use 1L or 2L cooldrink bottles. They are not ideal but can handle the carbonation pressure and will do in a pinch.
Thought about that, but what about the beer losing carbonation (like what coke does a few days after being opened), and also won't the light bugger up the beer by not being in dark coloured bottles?

Nope, haven't looked for them either. Screw caps are...an issue, because you have to torque them to spec to ensure they don't leak.

Too much mint and coriander in this one, I shall name him, Ginger Hulk.
Yes, "coriander", of course.

PS I want a bottle of whoever tries the first real cannabis beer. Like, with whole or shredded buds next to the hop pellets.

I actually grew some for fun and have a decent amount in plastic tubs, I don't really smoke the stuff so if there is a recipe I'm happy to try, I'll ask my friend to come do a taste test.

I've already looked into that :p

Apparently, for best results, you need to steep the bud in 70%+ alcohol for a week to draw out the THC, and then use that to fortify whatever drink you want to get hammered on.

Naturally fermenting with buds just leaves a grassy ass flavour and very small amounts of THC.

I'll just work out the dose per ml required like when you make a tea then make a small batch of a regular pale ale or IPA perhaps to hide the flavour of the buds (because I don't think they taste particularly nice). Hops and cannabis is the same family of plants, so it should work just fine. Add the buds at the start of the 60 minute boil in a hop bag, and that's it.

PS: Perhaps a small batch to start. No point in making a huge batch that tastes like crap and knocks your socks off. I also believe the hit changes between smoked/eaten/drank.

but that is the point during lockdown
If you're going to be making a proper all grain brew with your own hop pellets and whatnot, you probably have enough beer anyway so you're not worried about lockdown brewing styles.

Also, TGC just stopped by:
