Just put my first Liquifruit brew to bed. Could only get mango and orange. 2L mango and orange, 1kg sugar, 4L water. SG a whopping 1.070! So I should get a nice kick out of this :)

Brewing yeast plentiful at local Spar.

Now busy with a ginger beer. Think I put too much lemon in.
Mine's on too. 6l juice, 800g sugar and 5g yeast. Should be ready for Level 4.

wowser that is a lot of sugar, you would normally add like 1KG of dextrose to a 23lt batch, that is going to be rough as hell

Not going to be any rougher than any of my previous batches. The yeast will do its job.

I wouldn't know where to find dextrose anyway.

I am just referring to quantity wise, dextrose is just sugar (different type).

4L Clear apple liquifruit
8TBL spoons brown sugar
I added a teaspoon of yeast nutrietn because i have

i let the brewers yeast hydrate in 200ml water for 15 minutes before adding then added it to the mix, put the airlock on and left it in a dark place for 6 days till bubbling stopped and the yeast had dropped out of suspension.

then i bottled it with a 1/3tsp of sugar in each and left it for another week, ideally it should be longer

I've had a lot off success with getting yeast off my lemon and orange tree with the lemon yeast seemingly being the most efficient. I also have a bread starter thats been going since 2016 that I got from my fruit trees. I normally slice bits of skin around the stem area and use them whole to get a yeast starter going.

Interesting video on how to make your own yeast.

Thanks for that, I will give it a go. I have fermented quite a lot of chillis and other veges and I also make my own sourdough. An interesting phenomenon I have anecdotally observed is that the stems appear to hold the best "load" of the necessary bacteria to kick off fermentation. I used to de-stem all my chillis before fermentation, but now I leave them on, and de-stem before pulping as things get off the ground much more quickly.

It would be interesting to see if someone else observed the same, and I will employ this method given the video you posted.

no heating, just shake the bottle with the juice and sugar before adding the yeast to dissolve it.

taste is excellent, it is a little bit dry but after the first sip actually great, strength is quite rough.
