I thought that government was informed by scientists, and their decisions were based on scientific input.

Or is it a case of we only listen to the advise we agree with?

I don't know what is more concerning the fact that Professor Gray, a pediatric specialist, didn't know that children in this country are still being reported with malnutrition before the lockdown and she got that "fact" wrong

or

that Dr Mkhize sees it as a saving grace that he can claim her findings as wrong since we did have children with malnutrition still being reported at Bara before lockdown

All of that is unfortunate but neither here nor there in the greater scheme of things, it's the breakdown in their relationship that is concerning, because we need the minister and the MAC to have their eyes on the ball, no one is benefiting from this sideshow.

Meanwhile social distancing at it's best.

But it's all good, Mkhize and NDZ have a strategy. At least they won't be sharing stompies...

One individual doesn't constitute "scientific input".

She's not the only one in mac disagreeing with gov.
These scientists must offer their advice and not try and influence policy. They are not elected officials. The decision making doesn't rest with them.

Sadly I do agree with this.

But then having elected officials is a problem. We need to cut out the middle man so to speak. I'm sure you are smart enough to consider the scientific advice for yourself. You don't need a Zuma to help you decide?

Their advice seems useless, they should just leave the mac as it's a waste of their time really.

The gov says their policy is based on the scientific advice, the scientist are saying they never gave such idiotic advice.

The elected officials should not try and get involved in things that require a brain cell... such as how to run a country because its evidently entirely fscking beyond them.
Therein lies your problem. You are working under the assumption that the scientists know it all and their word is a commandment. You fail to consider that that there is disagreement even among the scientist. So who is correct? Also, the scientist know nothing about running the country. If they think they do, then they should run for elections and win, and then they can run the country.
