Do you have a blank paper, pen/pencil and a ruler of some sorts? And of course, can you write ?

I honestly don't think I have blank paper  I don't print anything anymore, I have done everything digitally including signatures for years now. We have a printer in the garage but I am sure there is zero ink in it and as I said, I don't think we have paper. I could make a plan but there are many who simply can't.

That's a new variation on Catch-22:
I need a new printer cartridge.
Where's your permit?
I can't print it, out of ink...

It is an issue my girlfriend sits with for their factory staff who they need back for work next week. Some went home which is out of Johannesburg and now need to travel back but how do you get them the necessary documentation?

Under the current regulations this will be very difficult. They would need to be essential workers, have a place to stay which does not put others at risk, and get a police permit to cross boundaries.

By leaving before the lockdown, they made themselves unemployable. Probably did not anticipate this level of bureaucratic madness...

They aren't needed now, only from May 1st when we move to Level 4, so I believe that more movement is then permitted. Besides sending them an SMS or WhatsApp message, what else can one do for them to show they are going back to work and thus need to move around more. Once they have been to the factory it will be easier as documentation can be printed.

‘SA could lose its book industry.' Top authors urge Ramaphosa to allow trade

More than 300 South African authors and academics have appealed to government to allow the delivery of all books during Level 4 of the national lockdown.

From May 1st, only the selling of educational books will be permitted as part of the next stage of lockdown.

In an open letter to President Cyril Ramaphosa, Nobel prizewinner JM Coetzee and some of SA’s most prominent authors including Zakes Mda and Mandla Langa praised government for its “sober, compassionate, and science-based leadership” during the crisis.

But they warned that South Africa could lose its book industry if it was not allowed to trade.

The writers said that the industry was already vulnerable before the pandemic, and now urgently needs a lifeline.

“We as a country are at great risk of losing not only our booksellers, but our publishers too. We are concerned about the jobs that will be lost, as well as the loss of vital cultural and intellectual space. This space will not be easily regained once the Covid-19 crisis is over.”

In all honesty the lockdown should end on the 1st, screw these stupid levels and stages, our numbers are so low that it's ridiculous to hold the country hostage. We were told 3 weeks to get everything into place, +2 weeks to make sure and now suddenly this stupid level system which is basically the same crap just slightly less pong?

I have been reading a lot of history books (coincidentally taken out of the library before the lockdown). It is eerie how many of the stupid government actions in SA have precedents in the past. Pol Pot the dictator in Kampuchea (Cambodia) decided that the country did not need intellectuals, factory workers, or even urban dwellers, only farmers!?

Seems like the same mentality here, all in the name of a bizarre fixation to control everything. Its a form of madness..

Are South Africans really mad that the government is trying to protect us from reaching Spain/Italy numbers with our inferior healthcare system? Weird bunch.

As I was told some people dont have it as cozy as me and live day to day. Cause me saving money(Working overtime, studying) and not wasting it is the problem, not the other people.
So they should be allowed to go on as normal and perhaps infect more people.

I`m just waiting for the lock down to lift and get pictures of these day to day people.
Perhaps when I get a call out to a tavern on weekend will I get my pictures.

The UK has 20,000 covid-19 deaths with their more 'relaxed' social distancing rules... How many hospital beds do we have in total?
Well, UK has more number of townships so that explains their death rate.
