Lockdown ISP speeds – The big winners and losers

The national lockdown which started on 27 March has had a slight negative impact on the average speed of fixed broadband connections, but there was one exception – fibre.

Fibre subscribers have seen an increase in average download speed thanks to free line speed upgrades offered by fibre network operators.

Well, pre lockdown I was on a 8/2 fiber line which was dog slow. The day I started working from home I upgraded to 20/2 to work better. Then the free upgrade kicked in and I'm on 50 down 5 up. What an improvement! So fun downloading huge linux distributions so fast ;)
