Why do you recommend the Razer, Person?

Well I dont know person's reasons but I have heard the Razor is considered by many to be the best gaming mouse around.

I myself have a MX510 and a friend showed me his Razor. Has a really cool feel to it. Almost rubbery.

If I had to choose again I think I would go for the razor. Depending on the model they can get quite expensive tho.

BTW here is the razor site, http://www.razerzone.com/

the razor diamond back kicks the crap outta your mx510 thats for sure

im pretty sure the new razors are even better

for me the razor owns and why i wont buy another logitech mouse is because they only make right handed mice

the razors are for both left and right

so logitech can go fuq themselves for all i care

The Razor's don't have a particuarly good look about which the Logitech's do.

@ Killadoob: Yeah the Razor Diamondback would kill the MX510 but would fall behind against the G5. The G5's direct compeitior is Razor Plasma Edition (but is pricier).

LOL Carl

In games there is a very noticible difference between normal 400dpi mice and high-res ones. I use an MX510 and love it. But i wouldn't have thought so before I got my MX ;)

antowan, also have a look at the Logitech G7 wireless mouse. Has the same specs as the G5, minus the wire, two lithium ion batteries, razer sharp precision and it basically eliminates all the problems that have made wirless mice unsuitable for gaming in the past. Well, that's what all the reviews say :p .

Exactly, I was thinking nah my microsoft wheel mouse optical was just fine until I got the MX510 after going back to the MS one for about a day I realised just how much better the MX510 is.

Still dont know about the G7, wireless and gaming has never worked well together. I will reserve judgement on the G7 until I have tried one.

No seriously, I've played games with a couple of expensive Logitech mice that my friends own... the mice are nice and all... but I really don't notice much difference... and I still usually whip them with my antiquated, cheapass computer

Perhaps you just have very good reflexes Carlhead? :D

Must be pretty quick to compensate with a 400dpi mouse vs 2000dpi mouse... ;)

Thanks guys for your help. I will do my shopping this coming week and test both the G5 and Razor mice before buying. Clearly the choice is between the two...

Maybe it's just the games I play... what games would I see the most benefit having a 2000DPI mouse? (I think the Genius is 200DPI, hehe)

Its smaller in your hand than the G5
Lighter and smother
Comes in Blue
And Has Greater DPI
The Razer Plamsa was built for gaming, where as the G5 was built for fine graphic art movement.
You can adjust the DPi and Speed with a touch of a button on the Razor and it has Real drivers. (not just the standard one that come with the G5)

All in all they are both good mice - and really its up to you what you like.
I find the razer to be better - but some1 else might find the G5 to be better.

The Razer is also the better priced option.

Well playing as a sniper gives the lower DPI mice an advantage... You like playing sniper? :D

To snipe, you camp... I don't like camping or campers... I'm pretty old school, quake 1, 2, 3, BF Vietnam, BF2, Shogo, Death Rally (VERY OLD), Netstorm (Also OLD). Starcraft, Tony Hawk 2,3,4,UG. AVSP2

I don't play UT 2003 / 4 / 5, Quake 4, Doom 3 etc.

So I suppose that's why I don't notice the diff... I would like decent mouse for design though, DPI is important then I suppose; would you recomend one of the mice we've been talking about? Or is there another range for that?

I think I am going to go for the G5. The option to change DPI while in the game seems the way to go...
