Well you're going to only find a benefit in FPS's - BF2 and maybe Q3. However the UT series is the one that will most benefit since you need pin-point accuracy.

I will do both running like hell and pin point sniping so... :D

I am going to get back into AA. Deathmyst needs to make a combeback... Haven't been in the server for months.

Its smaller in your hand than the G5
Lighter and smother
Comes in Blue
And Has Greater DPI
The Razer Plamsa was built for gaming, where as the G5 was built for fine graphic art movement.
You can adjust the DPi and Speed with a touch of a button on the Razor and it has Real drivers. (not just the standard one that come with the G5)

All in all they are both good mice - and really its up to you what you like.
I find the razer to be better - but some1 else might find the G5 to be better.

The Razer is also the better priced option.

AFAIK the G5 is advertised as a gamer's mouse, not a graphic designer's mouse. And I imagine it comes with drivers from Logitech, not from Real.

Personally, I'm relatively happy with my MX1000; I'm not into first-person shooters though.

I recently started gaming (at the age of 30...lol) I had a std (cheap) logitech wireless mouse. I then decided to buy a new one and settled for the G5. This has improved my game tremendously. In the beginning i couldn't understand why would anyone require high dpi settings as it is uncontrollable. Now i know how easier it makes everything. I don't need a full desk just for mouse movement anymore..:D . In reply to Person, i also settled for the G5 due to it being a bigger mouse as i have large hands it is easier for me to handle and it does have dpi change setting at the click of a button on the mouse. In the end it comes down to personal preferences and if you are comfortable with the R50 mouse and enjoy it, why spend more money? Buy another game.

happy gaming....

I just got a G7 on Friday and it is awesome. There is no lag because of the wireless connection. I used to have another Logitech wireless mouse and hated the lag, but the G7 is liked having a wired mouse. Also the variable dpi thing makes such a difference in games. I was just playing CS Source and it's so easy to switch between sniping and close combat. Also the G7 and G5 let you alter the dpi settings to suit your needs with the SetPoint software. You can set up to 5 custom dpi settings. :D

The battery life on the G7 has been critisised elsewhere, really if those people are going to play more than 10 hours of games at a time then that's the problem not the battery life. And the batteries recharge in just 2 hours when using 'burst' mode on the charging station. I'm very pleased with my G7, but the G5 is great too. I just hate wires, they get in the way and can get caught, preventing movement at critical times in fps's. Oh well, that's just my opinion. ;)

I have the Logitech MX518 and vs the G5 I find there is not a noticable difference. G5 has the adjustable weights which some will see as a plus, too me it just reminds me of the ad where the guy hold a sand bucket to kick straight.

BUMP! :D

I got myself the G7 on Sunday. I am not really into games, but I might play now and again. I needed a new mouse and was tired of the MS Intellipoint stuff I had.

I love the G7 (even if just for work), will try it with gaming tonight!

2 things that I like most:
1. rechargabe batteries (2 of them)
2. The fact that you don't have to use the charging cradle ... can plug the wireless dongle straight into the USB port on the notebook ... and this is what I wanted.

So yeah, money well spent I think

I've tried many wireless mice, and I found it them really irratating because of the LAG... especially in games.

I've never used a G7, so let me know if you find it laggy. I quite like it otherwise.

Carlhead, will do. Like I said I am not too concerned about the gaming aspects. I wanted something that was REALLY wireless (not like the wireless MS stuff with that odd shaped wired connector thing) and that still fits your hand properly (can't work with those silly notebook mouse thingies).

But yeah, I'll check it out tonight and let you know

I use the Logitech V400 for general notebook and wireless use. It works great! Have used it for gaming as well, not bad at all. ;)
BUT, there is a definite change in performance when switching to my Razer Copperhead for gaming, it rocks!! :D
Nothing comes close IMO :D

I read an article anout the razer coperhead in NAG... wasn't a good opinion.

I've been using a touchpad on my notebook and a couple old genius mice on my gaming machine. I tend to break them often so I'm a bit nervous about shelling out R500 on a G5 or something.

G7 in Gameplay

Carlhead,

Quickly took the G7 through its paces in BF2, and OMG!!! What a difference a decent mouse makes. I am used to playing with Intellimouse opticals, but this is unbelievable.
Changed back halfway through a map to my Intellimouse ... lets just say I lost my head a few times more.
Definitely makes a huge difference!!
The movement is much more precise and 'crisp' (especially using sniper rifles etc)

Thumbs up from me! (not that I am the most l33t gamer ever) :D

I'm going keep my cheap mouse, so at least I can blame my equipment (and smash it) when I get nailed online. :D
