long lasting cars (mileage) ?

Wonder if my uno with 446 000km qualifies as a long lasting mileage.
It does in my eyes.

I have a 2011 Auris that has clocked 245 000km, it goes onwith its business and i forsee it clocking 500 000km in many years to come as i wont sell it.

Uncle has a 2008/9 Merc C Class C180 that has ticked over to 300 000km with minimal work needed.
He also had a C240 W202 which had 400 000km when he sold it some years ago, those v6 motors are bullet proof.

@Zuner had a Hyundai Accent with well over 500k IIRC.

1999 Hyundai Accent 1.3 XS
Sold a couple years back with 545k km on the clock engine having being opened only for valve stem seals. Factory rings.

It did Sandton traffic daily with long distance as well, I learned to drive as a youngster in that car. So it was driven hard especially with the small engine in a big body.

P.S its engine bathed in shell 5w40 Ultra all its life. One of the reasons I think, that it was so reliable.

My dad had one of those and the 1.6 Elantra. I remember he used to say the xs meant xtra s**t because it wasn't as nice as the Elantra to drive. Funny enough the accent out lived the elantra which supports your experience. From back then I do remember the only issue was lack of good mechanics to maintain the Hyundai's (well at least in CPT)

Why was there a lack of mechanics to maintain it? Did they just look at it and assumed it's complicated to fix because they have not seen the name before?

Honestly I dont know. Haven't personally worked on it so cannot say for sure. One thing I do remember is that all the mechanics were very careful around the air filter. It had some sensor which I can only assume was like an airflow/airmass meter.
Also strange, the elantra was the only car I've ever seen with a factory cone filter.

Edit: thinking back, it was only the Elantra which was hard to get mechanics to work on. The one he had was some limited edition which was not the average Hyundai motor and I distinctly remember that he had to import parts for it as they were not off the shelf in SA... and some other parts would come from a Mitsubishi

The Hyundai Elantra was an Opel Monza with a different body. The mechanics would have been the same.

I'm actually an opel guy having owned a monza and a boss. I knew my way around them and this elantra was definitely not the same.

The elantra was not those round shapes which was similar to the accent, it was shaped more like the Hyundai coupe. They were apparently a limited run

Pull the headrests of the front seats out pull forward and entire seat area folds to cushioned campervan airline vibes. AND ONLY 385 000 in the clock. Sits outside ambient every day since it was bought. Serviced yearly but not through Honda. A beast. Still starting every day and going strong. Hope this post don't jinx it!

Those are amazing. A friend of mine did a trip through africa in his one. Literally travelled for a whole month through of road trip

Yes that's the one. The one my dad owned also came with a limited edition set of wheels and probably around 90% of what he needed for the car was never available in SA and had to be imported. Even a water pump was an issue. I remember him having to wait around 2-3 months for a water pump back then. Car would stand and the xs would be going strong.

The elantra drove very nice though and was very punchy.

The other car my dad owned after the Elantra was a c250 turbodiesel merc. Another 400k km on that car before he sold it. Sadly his eyesight went and the car was just standing or else it would have been driven more. That car did alot of long distance though.
