The authors review literature showing that marijuana impairs driving, increasing the risk of being involved in a car accident
Actually research shows that it only impairs driving at high doses, but also that users are less likely to have an accident than an alcohol user because THC intoxication leads to a tendency to overestimate impairment and thus be extremely cautious. Hence the various jokes about stoner drivers and Cape Town drivers in general.

Which would you prefer to see in the pilot's hand as your Airbus A380 comes in to land - a glass of scotch or a reefer?
Since it would be equivalent doses of both, reefer without question.

True.

It's a separate point I know, but the State has no business banning stuff. (and yes, ghoti, even fissionable/radioactive material or the botulin virus. Criminals by definition disobey the law, so the laws don't stop 'em anyway.)

FYI
Ambrosini (MP for Inkatha) is dying of lung cancer. Late in 2013 he introduced a private bill into Parliament to legalise medical marijuana. He was supported in this by the Minister of Health and President Jacob Zuma. The legalisation doesn’t require any effort on the part of government (no work, just a change in law). Given this, it stands a chance of happening. Best decision IMO.

Interesting one. Personally, knowing how I experience both, I'd rather have him drinking. Having the pilot calm is of a lot more importance than his arrogance level.

Which do you think incapacitates you more? Been really drunk or really stoned?

Well, being really non-sober in either direction makes you lame... Sooooo...

However being blackout drunk but still actionable vs. seeing **** that isn't there and having a mental breakdown, I would always choose the former. My opinion is completely biased, of course, as I prefer the experience alcohol gives.

It's not something you really witness, as pot makes you really physically relaxed too; making it mostly a mental/internal struggle. It's nothing like a bad LSD trip where freaking out means actually acting out. Just my experience of course.
