You do realise that this is a South African forum, and that most of us don't have a clue what is available in NZ?

Is the Holden Barina the Chev Sonic?

I'd take the Lancer.

Looking at getting a new car, which of the two would you choose and why? Otherwise any other recommendation available in New Zealand.

PC Technician that has done 10K Km's in 6 months.

http://www.holden.co.nz/cars/barina/range/cdx

Looking at performance/brand/features :)

Just get something small and cheap if you're gonna be doing that many kms. Something that's popular that side so that value still holds a bit.

ie, nothing french.

That is some assumption there mate...in particular...the "don't have a clue" part.

A true car enthusiast does not restrict himself to cars only available in his boarder.

The Lancer in the 1st link is a 2L N/A Lancer you get in SA. The GSR model has a 6-speed CVT.

The Barina RS Turbo is the exact same Chev Sonic RS in SA.

Now between the 2 unusual /non direct choices I would go for the Sonic/Barina if you don't value/need the space of the Lancer.

Sonic/Barina= more modern; smart infotainment system; a small capacity turbo motor vs large size N/A in Lancer & it looks fairly good.

10K km in six months is in no way high mileage.

Did you read all the words? The one I'm thinking of in particular is the word "most".

Oh, and a boarder is someone who lives with you. And even if you used the right word, which is "border", the sentence still makes no sense.

Nevertheless I gave my 2c of his vehicle choices even though I don't reside in NZ.

I had no idea, sorry.

I'd take the Lancer.

I guess so, I know very little about cars :(

What about a corolla hatch?

Corolla's are good in south africa ,they should be good in NZ also.

Looks good thanks, now I have 3 to choose from :( :)

Thanks for the replies, I guess I'm going to have to test drive them and look at them more closely to decide.

I would look at Mazda3 instead. Below I have provided a link where you can read some car review in your country and do your own research.

http://www.aa.co.nz/cars/car-reviews/ (New Zealand car review)

http://www.caradvice.com.au/car-reviews/ (This is a Australia car review, their availability of cars is similar to New Zealand)

I had a look at it, unfortunatly I just don't like it, but thanks for looking.

I am now looking at the Holden Cruze Equipe Hatch http://www.holden.co.nz/cars/cruze/range/equipe-hatch

It's on special at the moment for $25K which is pretty good considering normal price is $32K and had better audio speech recognition than the Barina CDX

Have you taken some cars for a test drive to see which one suites you the most?

Reliability, fuel economy and most importantly a built in fridge.

Why not get a sheep to ride? It doesn't have a fridge, but you can slice snacks off the hindquarter.
