What a waste

Dell 3 Year Next Business Day On Site Warranty

Makes the decision for me, since they're both the same resolution

I work on a 24" Samsung SyncMaster 2433 and we have had 2, out of the 3, Samsung monitors fail in the past 3 years.
Same issue with red/pink vertical lines that appear and never go away

If it's a 27" for work, then why only HD resolution? Go for 2560x1440, That's 3x A4 pages in Word on one screen, at 100%, it is _amazing_.

The warranty on the Dell is the deal clincher IMO.

FYI, I have 4 samsung monitors of varying ages, newest one is 2 years old, oldest one 5. Not a single problem with any of them whatsoever.

The S2740L has a glossy panel, and then also a sheet of glass over the screen, which makes it extremely reflective. You're going to need to take this into account.
