OK! I posted a request for advice (wrong column was my fault) still new here. There were some suggestions, however, some missed the point so will state requirements again, having read several threads, am a bit wiser now.
1. We don't have a Telkom/fixed/adsl line
2. We had a 3G Telkom, which would have sufficed had it worked properly - cause it satisified our 2 basic requirements; make/receive calls - email, internet banking. Unfortunately we comm errors frequently "Emergency call only available" Telkom's response " install a R ?K ext antennae - but no guarantee from them, so we shelved that!
3. We considered Neotel (as they have similar offering to Telkom - wireless 3G phone/internet (1GB pckge). But having read all the Neotel complaints here we shelved that also.
So we stuck & require advice? We need:
Wireless instrument that's voice/internet access - Which?
Service provider - Who?
Any idea on cost factot we looking at for: +- 75 calls a day (jhb mainly, incl bandwidth cost.+- 50 emails (avg 30kb per mail)
Internet browsing - max 1 hour per day, information seeking mainly!
Service should be reliable, cost effective, as long as fairly audible we happy! We receive & make calls so don't want it to be expensive for our clients to phone us! Some suggested FNB, their special expires end March. Some suggested MWebs voip - I read their website & to me it sounds ADSL based.
Some gave a link to a service provider - I email them 3 days ago, & no reply yet, so sounds like bad service provider (Neotel/Telkom like?). My partner & I, both late 50's & want min stress!
So please any suggestions/solutions, pls help. Any other requirements, am willing to supply.

Voice: If you want fixed line call quality get a fixed line. Not much goes wrong with it other than cable theft. You are low volume anyway so VoIP isn't going to save you much.

Internet: If you can't/won't get ADSL and Telkom 3G is not working for you then your choices are another 3G provider or WISP. 3G external antennas can make a world of difference when you have bad signal. If the tower is congested or suffers from lack of backhaul it won't. High gain antenna is about R1100 excluding connector for your device. If you post your area maybe people can suggest a good WISP. Not all of them will carry VoIP.

IMO it really sounds like a Telkom talk package with ADSL would be better suited to your needs and want of "min stress".

Hi, tks for reply, we are in Samrand, in between Centurion & Midrand. Forgot to add no lines available here; 4-6 months waiting period, so it has to be wireless!

Have a look at Amobia, they might have coverage. http://www.amobia.com/

Should I move your post to the WISP forum, because it kind looks like where you need to be?
