Hi all,

I have a fantastic opportunity for a Snr C# to join a growing telecommunications group. Position is based in Rosebank and the salary is between R25k and R52k per month depending on experience.

If you are interested you are welcome to send your cv to me jackie@sassoconsulting.co.za so I can share the full spec. This position is rather urgent so if any of you are interested in a part time contract until we find a permanent person the client will accept.

Please refer anyone you think will suit the role.

I second this ^

To my knowledge, Snr C# Dev should be earning between 50k - 58k with at least 8 years experience.

Not if you stay at the same company for 8 years.

You will have to do a lot of job hopping to earn that...

Hmm, which raises the question... @Spratza,

This 50k - 58k salary; does my current salary come into question when applying for this job?

Really?
I'm only on 3 years experience now so I can't talk from experience.

But at the rate of my salary growth, I'll be well over that in 8 years! Yes I know the rate will decrease over time but even then I will almost guarantee this.

Maybe my company just pays well or the other companies are paying ****e!

Yeah you will reach a glass ceiling where you are going to have to jump eventually, or you get tired of doing the same crap over and over, or seeing the same people...

What is?... serious question

R60K to 80+ K

I've got 11 years and I'm in the mid-range there. Friends are in the top range with only a couple years more.

On the other hand.... senior also means "needs to know your ****". You can have 20 years experience and still be a junior.

R25k - R52k is such a big range. You're basically saying "Please for the love of God anybody apply, we beg you!"

:D

I think companies have hit an epic fail with their location. All these companies are running out of Sandton, Rosebank and other ****ty areas where the guys who can truly do the job don't want to have to travel. Let me see, I can stay at my current job which takes 12 mins to get to in the morning and back home or I can sit in 2 hours traffic their and 2 hours traffic back - all for the same salary - so which should I choose.

Honestly they would have to put R20k - R30k on top of my current salary for me to even begin considering such ****ty locations. Never mind the fact that most of these companies for some reason think that R50k is the highest a dev should ever earn.

Yeah, just the idea of working in Sandton kills it for me. They'd need to really sweeten the deal for me to consider it - a big increase, guaranteed flexi hours and don't even get me started on dress code

You're a Hamster... Hamsters don't have dress codes... Or any other codes for that matter.

Common sense is rather uncommon these days.

Yes there should be more incentive. Why hasn't it happened though?

Got an interview close to Rosebank the other day after they contacted me. Gave them a range of 8 to 10% on top of my current CTC, which puts me in the low 60's. They decided to go with a contractor. Being on 22 years experience I'm not going to move for less
